70 Jobs Promised with Killybegs Seafood Plant

Details have been announced of a plan to build the world’s largest seafood ingredients plant in Killybegs, Co Donegal.

The  in partnership with Norwegian company Biomarine Science Technology is behind the €35m investment, which would see the creation of 70 direct and indirect jobs.

However, the KFO says ultimately up to a thousand jobs could be created as a result of their ambition to create a centre of excellence for bio-marine production in the port with this plant as the cornerstone.

Donegal Gets 70 New Jobs in New Bio-Marine Ingredients Facility

THE Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation is to create up to 70 new jobs as it develops one of the world’s biggest bio-marine ingredients facility.

The facility will be located at Killybegs in Co Donegal with the facility being developed alongside a Norwegian science and technology firm.

It is expected that the €35m project will result in the creation of up to 70 jobs from 2016 while a further 50 people will be employed in the construction phase.

It will have the capacity to process up 50,000 tonnes of raw material annually.
