LinkedIn to create 100 new jobs in Dublin

LinkedIn, the most popular professional network across the globe, is to create 100 new jobs in Dublin, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD announced today.

The jobs, which will be available over the next 12 months, will include graduate and experienced positions, with opportunities in sales, business development, marketing, customer services, finance, HR and operations. There are already more than 15 jobs on offer today. See more……

SuperValu plans to create 400 jobs

SUPERVALU, the independent supermarket network, is to create 400 jobs as part of a €25 million investment programme.

When the work on two new stores and the extension and refurbishment of a further 34 more is complete the numbers employed by the network will hit 15,000, serving two million customers a week.

The new stores will be located at Mountmellick, Co Laois and Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim.

Speaking at SuperValu’s national conference in Killarney, which was attended by over 500 retailers, managing director Martin Kelleher said the company had recorded €2.1 in sales last year. See more…….

Meet Ireland’s next generation of internet and games companies

‘Funds invested in exciting new companies are set to grow their businesses in international markets’ – Bruton

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, today [Friday] announced the ten successful companies that have been awarded funding under Enterprise Ireland’s new Internet and Games Competitive Start Fund.

Speaking after meeting each of the companies to discuss their plans Minister Bruton commented: ‘the ingenuity and creativity of young Irish entrepreneurs will drive our recovery. Irish expenses tracking start-up secures €50,000 funding

Dublin-based internet start-up, Plendi, has received a €50,000 investment from Enterprise Ireland’s new seed investment scheme, the Internet and Games Competitive Start Fund. The fund was highly competitive, with only 10 investments presented to over 120 applicants.

The company which was launched in November last year, takes the work out of tracking out-of-pocket expenses. Customers take a picture of their receipts using Plendi’s mobile phone application. The receipts are then transcribed by Plendi’s data entry staff into a personal online receipt manager, where the image and transaction data are permanently stored. See more…..

Enterprise Ireland holds investment event for Irish start-ups

Eleven Irish start-up companies will compete for first-round funding at a Dragons’ Den-style investment event, taking place on Wednesday, 30 March, which marks the end of Enterprise Ireland’s nationwide business development programme, Propel II.

Propel II supports start-up companies in the IT and life science sectors that demonstrate major export potential.

The companies have completed 10 months of intensive training on how to manage a business during the setting-up phase. See more…..

New Angels have E2m for smart start-ups

A new syndicate of angel investors has been established with E2 million to channel into knowledge intensive technology based start-ups.

Called TechExecs, it is led by entrepreneur Ian Shearer and several other private investors.

The announcement comes as over 100 angel investors gathered in Dublin today to hear expert speakers and discuss the future of Ireland’s angel capital industry at the second annual Angel Investment Conference organised by HBAN Investor Syndicates under the auspices of InterTradeIreland and Enterprise Ireland. Class Acts: Student Enterprise Awards Winners Announced

Fingal’s youngest entrepreneurs were celebrating recently, as the winners of the tenth annual Fingal Student Enterprise Awards were announced in front of 350 invited guests at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown on Wednesday last (March 16th).  In all, forty seven student enterprises from fifteen secondary schools and ten primary schools took centre stage at the tenth annual County Final, which is organised every year by the Fingal County Enterprise Board. Kooky Dough to create 10 jobs in Dublin

Relatively new Dublin-based firm Kooky Dough is to create 10 new jobs following a major deal with Tesco Ireland.

The firm, which appeared on RTE’s Dragon’s Den on Sunday, has agreed a €550,000 deal with Tesco.

Kooky Dough makes cookie dough mixes for home baking. Under the new arrangement, it will create two new Tesco own-brand lines for the supermarket’s stores in the UK and Ireland. See more…..
