Entrepreneurs, The Secret to a Strong Branding Message? Focus

The Secret to a Strong Branding Message? Focus. Grow Your Business By Getting Back to Basics:

Entrepreneurs are hustlers. We wear many hats. We’re like the chameleons of the business world, adapting to whatever we need to be at any given moment in time. It is no wonder so many of us struggle when our ventures gain critical mass and it comes time to focus our brand.

In the mind of the customer, you get to be one thing. One. That matters because the customer’s mind is where your brand lives. Not in your headquarters. Not on your website. Not in your PowerPoint deck.

You don’t get to be five things. You don’t get to be three. If you say you are three things to your customer, you are saying you are nothing. If you say you are three things that your competitors already say they are, you are saying you are less than nothing.

Your one thing is the unique value that your brand delivers. Volvo keeps you safe. IBM is building a smarter planet. 7-Up is the uncola.

The importance of ridding Irish entrepreneurs of debt

We need to ensure our potential entrepreneurs are not bogged down in debt;

The very people we need to take risks, to have modest savings to invest, to quit their jobs and live on beans while they get their companies off the ground, will, instead, focus on paying down dead money for the next 10 to 20 years. The current government approach to the mortgage crisis not only fails to solve this problem, it guarantees it. The good news is that it can be fixed. Mortgage restructures incorporating unsecured debts and using debt-for-equity arrangements would work. Ideally, equity would be released back over the long term, providing further stability. This would free up an army of people to invest, take risks, and grow new businesses.

Crowd Funding initiative to restore Irish business lending

Linked Finance, Ireland’s first online crowd funding initiative, launched in Dublin with the backing of a high-profile line-up of Irish entrepreneurs and international investors.

The new Linked Finance technology facilitates person to person (P2P) lending, or ‘crowd funding’ for Irish business, and is a simple but clever way to introduce cash into an economy.

Partners and investors in the new crowd funding scheme include Dragon’s Den star Bobby Kerr, Senator Feargal Quinn and businessman Kingsley Aikins.

‘Linked Finance not only provides investment, but builds strong business relationships, as a company’s lenders become its customers, ambassadors and salespeople in effect. With Linked Finance, bankers get bypassed, the wheels of business are kept turning, and everyone wins,’ says CEO Peter O’Mahony.

We will support SMEs in any sector once they meet our criteria, ‘a butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker’.
