35 New Jobs to Boost Midlands.

Condron Concrete WorksA total of 20 new jobs are to be created in a €3m expansion at Condron Concrete Works in Tullamore, Co Offaly, while a new department store is to create up to 15 jobs in Co Longford.

The Offaly investment will finance the development of a plastic pipe-making facility at the family-owned company.

The company, which already employs over 50 people, is expected to start recruiting immediately for the new positions.

Those applying for the new jobs don’t have to have any skills specific to manufacturing plastic piping as training will be given.

“People are going to plastic for smaller diameter pipes because they’re quicker to put in. So we’re diversifying. It’s a good news story for Tullamore,” managing director John Condron said.

In Co Longford, Shaws Department Store is to create up to 15 full and part-time jobs with the opening of a new store.

The store is expected to open on October 24, taking the place of an old Centra store which closed earlier this year.

EU Funds Available for Web Entrepreneurs.

EU funds available for web entrepreneursAnyone developing an online business is being encouraged to apply to a new €130 million EU fund aimed at supporting e-commerce.

Budding tech entrepreneurs whose applications are successful can expect to get funding in the range of €50,000 to €150,000 under the European Commission-run scheme.

The grants are being rolled out under the third phase of the Future Internet Public Private Partnership (FIPPP), part of the Startup Europe initiative of the Digital Agenda for Europe.

Applications must be submitted by a deadline of December 10th, 2013, and information is available on the website www.fi-ppp.eu/.

Commenting on the funding opportunity, Fine Gael MEP for the North West Jim Higgins urged all Irish web entrepreneurs to apply for grants to help launch their product or service online.

“Ireland has a reputation as a technology hub, but online businesses will only grow if consumers can trust the reliability and security of the websites themselves.

“Web developers need to continually update their software to become faster, more interactive and user-friendly. This fund will help web entrepreneurs start, maintain and grow innovative businesses across Europe,” said Mr Higgins.

Canada to Focus on Irish Migrants at Local Job Expos.

Canada to focus on Irish migrants at local job exposTwo of Ireland’s major job expos are to be visited by a number of Canadian companies eager to encourage skilled Irish workers to consider a new, North American life.

Jobs Expo Dublin and Jobs Expo Cork are expecting at least seven Canadian firms looking to encourage immigration amongst the high number of jobless skilled workers in the Republic of Ireland. With the country now officially in recession again, Canada is an increasingly popular destinations for skilled tradespeople and professionals.

Internationally recognised qualifications, English fluency and increasing desperation, especially amongst younger skilled professionals, are leading many who’ve lost all hope of ever finding a job or advancing a career in their home country to look elsewhere. The needs of Canada’s many provinces fit well with those of the unemployed or recently graduated hopefuls waiting for the upcoming jobs fairs.

Dublin’s Jobs Expo at Croke Park Conference Centre is scheduled for two days beginning 6 October, and the Cork Expo at the Silver Springs Moran Hotel takes place on 10 September. Both are expected to attract many thousands of optimistic job-seekers drawn by the promise of dozens of worldwide companies and headhunting firms.

Those concerned about the realities of applying for a visa and work permit will be happy to meet up with CICS, a Canadian immigration consultancy and its CEO Alex Khadempour, who will explain main visa routes and what to expect on arrival. He will also explain that skilled workers can apply for permanent residency in the country once they are settled in.

More than 250 Job Vacancies in Irish Nursing Homes-NHI.

More than 250 job vacancies in Irish nursing homes - NHIThere are currently 256 vacancies ready to be filled in nursing homes in Ireland, according to the representative body for the private and voluntary nursing homes sector Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI).

The announcement is being made to coincide with Nursing Homes Week 2013, which is focusing on the innovative practices that are employed by nursing homes in healthcare delivery.

It will also highlight the role private and voluntary nursing homes play in creating and facilitating jobs in communities across Ireland.

Tadhg Daly, CEO of NHI, said: “These 256 jobs which are currently available only represent the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the job creation potential in the private and voluntary nursing homes sector.

“Between 2003 and 2009 the sector expanded capacity by over 7,000 places. The ESRI forecasts the need for an additional 13,000 plus residential long-term care places to meet demand up to 2021.

“With a clearly defined and Department of Health coordinated strategy for the sector, this number could expand at a rate of 900 new jobs per annum or up to 10,000 additional new jobs over the next 10 years.”

NHI has over 350 members in Ireland employing 22,000 staff. The survey was of 103 members across the country.

Tourism Ireland’s Tourism Ireland Launches New Website for Middle East;

Tourism Ireland’s global social media presence has more than 1.24 million fans on Facebook – it is the second most popular tourism board, after Australia, on the social networking site. - See more at: http://www.traveldailynews.com/news/article/56237/tourism-ireland-launches-new-website#sthash.7YDjl9l0.dpufDUBLIN - Tourism Ireland has launched a new and improved website for its GCC audience with an exclusive competition for one lucky winner to experience a ‘road-trip-of-a-lifetime’ along Northern Ireland’s most famous coastal route.

Enhancing Tourism Ireland’s online presence in the region, the new website has been developed in response to growing interest in travel to the island of Ireland from the Middle East market.

The local site provides comprehensive, up-to-the-minute information for Middle Eastern visitors with culturally curated exclusive content.

The ‘Jump into Northern Ireland’ road-trip-of-a-lifetime competition offers one lucky winner and guest a one week road trip to take in sites such as the multi-million pound Titanic Belfast Visitor’s Centre and the extraordinary Giant’s Causeway UNESCO World Heritage Site, whilst enjoying the scenic car routes of the Causeway Coast along the way.

Thomas Redmond, Tourism Ireland’s representative in the Middle East, commented: “Tourism Ireland is revving-up its online promotional activity in line with increased interest we are seeing from the Middle East in travel to the island of Ireland, as visitor numbers continue to increase month by month from the GCC market.”

Having such a huge fanbase is significant because each fan has an average of 200 friends, making Tourism Ireland just one degree of separation (or just one click away) from having its message shared with 250 million people around the globe.
